We present here a collection of site links representing the best and most respected
sites on the World Wide Web. These sites are chosen for their usefulness to us and the
quality of design, content and enlightenment that they provide.
MaxDesign are an Australian website
design house with an excellent portfolio of standards based web sites and more importantly for this site
a good set of tutorials on CSS techniques for the trickier elements of page design.
Founded by
Jeffrey Zeldman, A List Apart is a well established web
magazine hosting a collection of articles across a broad spectrum of web design and development issues.
Well respected and experienced web authors and designers contribute to the site.
456 Berea St. is the personal
site of Roger Johansson a web consultant based in Sweden and specialising in standards based accessible web design.
The site hosts a number of articles pitched at the developer.
Eric Meyer, one of the daddies, if not the daddy,
of CSS presents a collection of materials and links geared to the developer.
This site has already
achieved legendary status despite still being online. If you ever need an
argument for adopting the content/design split using XHTML and CSS then this
page provides plenty of ammunition.
No tour of websites centred on Web standards
and accessibility would be complete without referencing the source of those standards. Hardly an inspiring example of
design, but you get access to all the reference material you will ever need (except perhaps
Section 508 for our friends in
the USA) and links to other resources.
